Los Angeles – September 29, 2026 – As visual design and brand communication increasingly intersect across the creative industries, creative work rarely remains limited to a single poster, typeface, or film. Creators are expected to understand visual language, cultural context, media formats, and audience response at the same time. Liu Manshu’s recent practice has developed along this path: beginning with visual design and art direction and gradually extending into cross-media storytelling, audience research, and brand creative strategy.

In 2025, two of her works entered the official award archive of Graphis New Talent Awards 2025. When I Think of You, I Long for a Pear received Silver, while Eva received Honorable Mention. For a creator still in the early stage of professional development, these results first indicate that the works themselves entered a professional design platform’s evaluation and archival system, giving her exploration of typography, layout, and narrative clearer external visibility.

Among them, Eva is a typography and layout project conceptually grounded in Eva Perón and the history of women’s political participation. Rather than treating type as an isolated formal exercise, the project builds a continuous type specimen through the relationship among letterforms, historical imagery, posters, and layout. The project reflects one of Liu Manshu’s continuing creative interests: how visual elements can carry people, history, and social context rather than merely produce a surface-level stylistic effect.

This concern with how a work is understood also appears in her later professional exchanges. On November 1, 2025, Liu Manshu participated in Miami Portfolio Review Fall 2025, organized by The One Club for Creativity – Miami. The organizer’s event page listed her as “Art Direction (recent graduate) PRESENTER.” The event centered on portfolio presentation, industry feedback, and creative-career development, and her role shifted from simply submitting work as a participant to publicly sharing creative and portfolio experience as a Presenter.

Running in parallel with her creative work was another line of development: her master’s Professional Project at Florida International University, Unanchored Roots: A Cross-Context Creative Strategy Playbook. The project examined how U.S. brands can communicate more authentically with Gen Z international students from Mainland China and translated cross-cultural audience research into actionable brand creative strategy. The project materials show that she combined online surveys, Mandarin-language focus groups, and interviews with industry experts to organize findings on identity tension, purchasing decisions, media use, and brand communication preferences, and then developed a strategic framework for U.S. brands.

This research was not a journal article intended for academic publication, but a Professional Project oriented toward communication and creative practice. Its significance lies more in the method: Liu Manshu moved beyond the visual creator’s familiar question of “what do I want to express?” toward “how will the audience understand, respond, and act in a particular context?” In brand creativity, this shift means that creative judgment should not rely on aesthetic intuition alone, but also on audience, context, and media behavior.

From Graphis-recognized work to her Presenter experience with The One Club Miami and then to a brand-strategy project centered on cross-cultural audiences, Liu Manshu’s professional trajectory has not simply added more media formats. Instead, she has been progressively connecting visual systems, art direction, audience insight, and brand storytelling. Her work therefore reflects a structure increasingly aligned with the practical needs of the contemporary creative industry: understand the problem and the audience first, then determine the visual language and media format, and finally organize dispersed creative elements into a coherent expression.

For brands that increasingly depend on multi-platform content and cross-cultural communication, this type of capability is becoming an important part of creative production. Her next stage is to further integrate these methods into sustained creative practice across brand communication, audience strategy, and cross-cultural storytelling.
